Le Kisspeptin (aussi appelé Kisspeptine ou métastine) est un peptide naturel produit

par le cerveau qui joue un rôle clé dans le système reproducteur. On l’appelle souvent

le « bouton d’allumage » de la reproduction humaine.

En termes simples, il agit comme un régulateur central de la libido, de la fertilité et des

hormones sexuelles. Il stimule la libération de GnRH (l’hormone qui commande

l’hypophyse), ce qui augmente ensuite la production de testostérone chez l’homme et

d’œstrogènes/progestérone chez la femme.

Beaucoup de gens dans les milieux de recherche et de peptides l’explorent pour :

Le Kisspeptin est un peptide de la famille des kisspeptines, codé par le gène KISS1.

La forme la plus étudiée est le Kisspeptin-10 (un décapeptide : Tyr-Asn-Trp-Asn-Ser-

Phe-Gly-Leu-Arg-Phe-NH2), mais les formes plus longues (Kisspeptin-54,

Kisspeptin-145) existent aussi. Il agit comme un puissant agoniste du récepteur GPR54

Phe-NH2), although longer forms (Kisspeptin-54, Kisspeptin-145) also exist. It acts as a

potent agonist of the GPR54 receptor (also known as KISS1R).

• Stimulates the pulsatile secretion of GnRH (Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone)

by hypothalamic neurons.

• This GnRH release then triggers the secretion of LH (luteinizing hormone) and

FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) from the anterior pituitary.

• In men: Increases testosterone production by Leydig cells in the testes.

• In women: Regulates the ovarian cycle and stimulates estrogen and

progesterone production.

• Direct influence on sexual behavior and motivation through connections with

limbic brain centers.
